Official issues of the Royal Australian Mint (RAM), the 2026 Mint Set celebrating a major milestone in Australian history – the 60th anniversary of decimal currency. It was in February of 1966 that decimal currency was launched in Australia, replacing the complex ‘pounds, shillings & pence’ system inherited from Britain. Although an enormous task, three years of planning and public education meant that the transition to the new system was remarkably smooth.
The perfect way to celebrate the 60th anniversary of decimal currency, the 2026 Mint set comprises six Australian legal tender coins. Struck to the world-renowned standards of the RAM, each set includes the classic 5c, 20c, $1 & $2, united with 10c & 50c commemoratives. Unique, one-year-only types, the 50c portrays the key design elements of our predecimal coinage, with the 10c depicting the outlines of our decimal coins!
